Surveglias development: Municipality of Lantsch/Lenz votes yes

On 8 March 2026, the municipality of Lantsch/Lenz sent a clear signal at the ballot box: with 85% yes votes, the electorate approved a loan for the Surveglias development. This marks a major step forward for a housing project that will create affordable, sustainable housing in the Lenzerheide region.

The Housing Cooperative Lantsch/Lenz plans 29 flats in four buildings in the Surveglias area, ranging from 2.5 to 6.5 rooms, all designed to be age- and disability-friendly, and all available for rent. A central shared square connects the four buildings and creates space for encounters. Building B takes on a special role: it houses two cluster flats with six rooms each, along with shared spaces and guest rooms.

The architectural concept draws on the building tradition of Lantsch: the three apartment buildings will have plastered facades, while the cluster building will be constructed as a timber structure inspired by an agricultural shed. Motorised traffic is directed into the underground car park at an early point, keeping the development itself free of traffic.

Sustainability is not an add-on but a foundation: the buildings will be built to the Minergie-P-Eco standard, with ground-source heat pump systems, photovoltaic installations and controlled residential ventilation with heat recovery. As a result, all operating energy comes from renewable sources.

Fanzun has been supporting the WBG Lantsch/Lenz as general planner from the earliest stages of development through to move-in-ready handover, covering the full scope from architecture, structural engineering, building physics and fire protection to construction management. The municipality created the planning conditions as early as 2023 with a partial revision of its zoning plan. Construction is set to begin in autumn 2026.
