Starting situation and idea

Torfeld Süd, formerly a factory site, is located very near the Aarau main railway station. A new and lively quarter of the city was to be developed on the site for mixed use on 5 construction plots. Historic buildings like the Aeschbachhalle, Testhaus and Villa Oehler stand on the site as a testimony to its history.

Approach

Well-organised and consistently structured meetings at various management levels while adhering to simple PQM principles enabled the GP-Team to make timely deliveries to the interfaces, superordinate levels and individual sites. For decontamination tasks, the construction management team assessed several variants to arrive at the most economical solution.

Challenges

Pre-project activity included overall supervision and coordination of 4 planning teams as well as the implementation of several wishes of the owners. The focus of subsequent tasks was conceptualising, project definition and cost calculation for site decontamination.
