Regional branch of Graubündner Kantonalbank, Arosa

Starting situation and idea

Fanzun AG was appointed to draw up concept to renovate the building of the Arosa regional branch of Graubündner Kantonalbank. The bank management finally opted and implemented a concept which Fanzun drew up on its own initiative for a new building.

Approach

The new building stands at the head of rows of buildings like a hinge and runs parallel to the terrain contour. A curve in the structure yielded a partly covered space on Poststrasse where people can meet. The light coloured exposed concrete reflects the solid and precise banking world.

Challenges

The site made a gap in closed structures converging from various planes and angles. The fan-shaped layout of the site and constrained spaces made it challenging to create a representative building on Poststrasse efficiently manage space and construction activity.
