Innovation and competence centre Viega Schweiz AG, Chur

Initial Situation & Concept

Founded as a two-person start-up for precision laser measurement technology, Oblamatik needed a new water competence centre. A four-storey new building was erected in the Rossboden commercial area in Chur, reflecting the company’s guiding principle: «We don’t improve existing technologies, we search for and find new solutions.» Today, the building is the headquarters of Viega Schweiz AG.

Approach

Starting from the heart of the building, the «Thinktank» – a place for communication, interaction and creativity – a flexible working environment with an innovative layout unfolds. The façade consistently reflects the basic grid defined by the building programme. Naturally, it is a MINERGIE-P building.

Challenge

The multifunctional innovation and competence centre combines office, laboratory, storage and production areas under one roof for around 70 employees currently, and 100 in the future. The open and innovative corporate culture had to be reflected in both the construction and the technical systems.
