Parsenn Resort, Davos

Starting situation and idea

The developer and operator Davos Klosters Bergbahnen AG wished to develop a resort in the heart of the picturesque village centre of the renowned alpine destination of Davos, comprising 31 apartments with net living areas of 50 to 75 m². Three generous penthouse apartments, together with the spa and fitness area, round off the range of residences in a luxurious way.

Approach

Three individual buildings are staggered along the slope, allowing optimal orientation and sunlight exposure for each apartment. A highlight of the resort is its own ski-in, which leads into a spacious plaza. The exciting composition of mural and regionally rooted architecture creates a new place that continues to evolve as an urban building block of Davos.

Challenges

The complex site with its difficult sloping location had to be integrated into the overall strategy, as did the technical issues arising from its location within an avalanche zone. The new Parsenn Resort was intended not to be an isolated world of its own, but rather an organic continuation of the existing settlement structure.
