Fanzun was actively involved in the bid for the 2022 Olympic Winter Games and developed a concept for the Olympic Villages. The starting point was that all newly constructed buildings for the 2022 Olympic Winter Games should meet the highest sustainability standards in social, ecological and economic terms.
The accommodation concept was based on modular construction using local timber. The plan was to erect temporary buildings at the Olympic venues and subsequently relocate them elsewhere for permanent, meaningful end use. For public relations purposes, a prototype was developed together with Uffer AG, the «Olympia Bündner Zimmer».
In the past, only in very few cases has a meaningful and sustainable subsequent use been found for the Olympic Village or for sports venues as a whole. For this reason, the efficient subsequent use of the facilities was an important part of the planning, intended to benefit the municipalities and the canton of Graubünden.
