All in one Hotel InnLodge, Celerina

Starting situation and idea

Guests of Engadin St. Moritz Mountains AG will enjoy an exciting and enjoyable holiday experience on the slopes, tracks and relaxation facilities and will further be able to stay at the accommodations offered by the mountain railways. For the planners, the task was to design budget accommodation for families, young persons and groups.

Approach

Skilful integration of the structure into the prescribed perimeter and the heterogenous environment combined to give a “comfortable scale” to the large volume and create an individual identity for the structure. The building structure and a simple development concept permits functional organisation of space and optimum daylight usage.

Challenges

The original design intended for commercial use defined the perimeter of the structure built on a plinth of roughly 52 x 28 x 8m with a steep tiled roof. The designers’ brief was to make optimum use of the site for tourism.
