Remember Me
The five-storey residential and commercial building at Salvatorenstrasse 70 in Chur, built in 1985, had not undergone any significant refurbishment for over 30 years. The client therefore wanted a comprehensive update including thermal façade renovation, renewal of bathrooms and kitchens, and a consistent, contemporary materials concept.
The new façade, with insulation and Aquapanel boards as a plaster substrate, forms the basis for a sustainable renovation that, through its calm and clear use of materials, gives the complex, staggered building volume a new sense of simplicity. The usable areas in the roof could be activated as attractive living space by means of dormer windows in copper, serving as an eye-catcher.
The conversion work has to be carried out while the building remains in ongoing use, requiring intelligent site logistics. For the 18 apartments, ranging from 2.5 to 5.5 rooms, as well as office and commercial space, the aim is also to achieve a significant enhancement of the architectural expression and the design of the outdoor areas.
