Heineken solar power system, Domat/Ems

Starting situation and idea

The location and the 1,600 m² roof area of the distribution centre of Heineken Switzerland AG in Domat/Ems offer optimal conditions for the installation of a photovoltaic system. Rhiienergie AG secures the rights to build a plant by means of a roof usage agreement and commissions Fanzun AG with the design, overall project management and construction management.

Approach

An almost full-surface arrangement of solar modules in an east-west orientation proves to be the best solution. The framework conditions regarding the load-bearing capacity of the existing roof structure call for a very lightweight substructure, while the shallow roof pitch favours the use of frameless modules installed parallel to the roof.

Challenges

In order to supply Rhiienergie customers with solar power at competitive prices, a grid-connected solar power plant is to be built with excellent economic efficiency. This goal is to be achieved through low construction, operating and maintenance costs, combined with consistently high yields.
