Rössli site development, Arosa

Starting situation and idea

The former owners and operators of Gasthof Rössli at the entrance to Arosa town, shut down the restaurant due to old age and put up the site for sale. Fanzun took the initiative to draw up development concepts for a hotel and residential buildings and could subsequently find an investor for the latter.

Approach

The two walled residential buildings have 4 floors each with two apartments on each floor. Parking spaces are provided in a platform-type underground car park. As is standard for Fanzun, the buildings meet the highest energy requirements and fulfil the Minergie standard.

Challenges

The site at the entrance to the village lies in a former industrial area and was expected to make a positive impact as the gateway to the holiday town of Arosa. Two polygonal compact buildings establish a dialogue with each other and with the town. The two-storeyed apartments in each house offer a view in all directions.
